Microdermabrasion

Everyone wants a "glowing" skin. Some factors that contribute to a glowing skin are skin texture, clarity, hydration and evenness. Microdermabrasion is a simple procedure that we commonly do at Twacha Skin and Hair Clinic, Kochi for achieving a glowing skin.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non surgical method of skin rejuvenation. It is a process of skin polishing wherein an instrument is used to gently abrade and remove the outer, thick, uneven dead layers of the skin to reveal smoother and fresher skin.

Who should undergo microdermabrasion treatments?

- Acne scars

- Dull skin

- Uneven skin texture

- Skin pigmentation or patchy skin

- Open pores

- Fine lines and wrinkles

- "Instant glow" before wedding/ function, etc

What happens during the procedure?

We do microdermabrasion in two ways. In one method, a blast of fine aluminium oxide crystals is used to polish the skin. In another method, a diamond tip probe is used to do the same.

You will feel a mild scratching sensation as if a fine sandpaper is being rubbed into your skin during the procedure. You may also feel a suction or pulling sensation as the vacuum lifts off the dead skin and crystals. The procedure is absolutely painless. It takes 15- 30 minutes for a single session.

What are the side effects of microdermabrasion?

There are no major side effects of microdermabrasion. Some minor side effects include redness and burning sensation which last only for a few hours after the procedure. Your skin may become dry and more sensitive to light. Hence, it is important to follow the post procedure instructions we give you after the procedure.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on the reason you are taking the treatment. In general, We advise 6-8 sessions, once every 2-3 weeks.
